Biography
Dropping a tray full of drinks on the first day of work can be disastrous for any self-respecting Waitress. For Corinne Chooey, this was especially true when her customers were Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx.
Corinne can be seen in a Supporting role as, "Daniel's Waitress" in Dir. Michael Mann's theatrical thriller, "Collateral," starring Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx. She recently completed roles in Comedy Central's "Reno 911!", the World Premiere of C.Y. Lee's AEA production, "The Body and Soul of A Chinese Woman," and in the sketch comedy collaboration, "TeleMongol." Look for her in an upcoming national ad campaign for Sara Lee, Inc.
Young fans of SABAN Entertainment's
daytime series, "VR Troopers," will remember Corinne as "The Black Vixen," the
villainous femme who lived in Grimlord's evil alter-universe. Keen Interent
sleuths may recall her as, "Kate Nei" in the Internet ARG promotion for
DreamWork's "A.I."
A past participant in FOX Television's
Diversity Writers' Program, Corinne has written for OPM Comedy and The Lodestone
Theatre Ensemble. She is a core ensemble member of Cold Tofu, the nation's
oldest Asian American Improv and Sketch Comedy Group, and has been seen onstage
at the Los Angeles Theater Center, San Diego Repertory, The Knightsbridge and
West Coast Ensemble.
Corinne has been performing in church musicals and community theatre since she was eleven years old. "I guess the Entertainment bug is in my family," said Corinne. "Both my Grandmother and Grand-aunt were Chinese film actresses in the United States and Hong Kong."
Born
on July 29 in San Francisco, California, Corinne was raised in Chinatown,
with its busy marketplaces, ornate pagodas and Chinese Operas. Although she
doesn't live in Chinatown anymore, Corinne stays close to Los Angeles' Chinese
Community. She volunteers at a Chinatown Community Center as a youth mentor. "I
see myself in so many of these kids," admits Corinne. "The least I can do is try
to show them that there's so much more outside their cultural
boundaries."
